Don’t get me wrong; I like my 2024 MacBook Air M3. I don’t want to seem ungrateful for how capably it assists me throughout my work day. But do I love it like I loved my iPod Nano? I do not. That purple, palm-sized gadget accompanied me through my university years and beyond, and it’s still in a drawer somewhere, just in case I’m ever brave enough to relive the music choices of my youth.

50 years of Apple

We’re celebrating Apple’s 50th birthday with a week of content about the tech giant. It covers everything from personal recollections from our writers to the greatest — and worst — Apple gadgets as voted for by you, and you can read it all on our 50 years of Apple page.

If you too are nostalgic for a previous era of Apple, the internet is awash with gadgets to help you relive that boxier, beige-r time. My pick, of course, is a silicone cover that makes your AirPods Pro cover look like an iPod scroll wheel. You can also get little hats that turn your Mac Mini into an old Macintosh — in looks, not functionality, of course — with options from a range of classic eras.

If Apple’s modern experiments in color aren’t hitting the spot, then there are plenty of options based around the iconic iMac G3. (The new MacBook Neo‘s snotty Citrus is not a patch on these juicy, tropical tones, in my opinion.) Spigen has a dinky G3 that’s actually an Apple Watch charging stand, with the watch screen playing the part of the computer screen. Scroll down for a look at more of my favorite picks, and lose yourself in old-school Apple nostalgia.
